Prevention Of Valve Body Corrosion Protection

Corrosion of valves is usually understood as the damage of valve metal materials under the action of chemical or electrochemical environments. Since the “corrosion” phenomenon occurs in the spontaneous interaction between metal and the surrounding environment, how to isolate the metal from the surrounding environment or use more non-metallic synthetic materials is the focus of anti-corrosion.

    The valve body (including the valve cover) of the valve occupies most of the weight of the valve and is in frequent contact with the medium. Therefore, the valve is often selected from the material of the valve body.

    The corrosion of the valve body is no more than two forms, namely chemical corrosion and electrochemical corrosion. Its corrosion rate is determined by the temperature, pressure, chemical properties of the medium, and the corrosion resistance of the valve body material. Corrosion rates can be divided into six classes:

    1, complete corrosion resistance: corrosion rate is less than 0.001 mm / year;

    2. Extreme corrosion resistance: Corrosion rate 0.001 to 0.01 mm/year;

    3, corrosion resistance: corrosion rate of 0.01 to 0.1 mm / year;

    4, still corrosion resistance: corrosion rate 0.1 to 1.0 mm / year;

    5, poor corrosion resistance: corrosion rate of 1.0 to 10 mm / year;

    6, not corrosion: corrosion rate greater than 10 mm / year.

    The anti-corrosion of the valve body is mainly the correct choice of material. Although the corrosion protection data are very rich, it is still not easy to choose the right one, because the corrosion problem is very complicated. For example, sulfuric acid is highly corrosive to steel at low concentrations, and produces steel at high concentrations. Passivation film can prevent corrosion; hydrogen only shows high corrosion to steel under high temperature and high pressure; when the chlorine gas is in a dry state, the corrosion performance is not large, but when there is a certain humidity, the corrosion performance is very strong, and many materials cannot be used. . The difficulty in selecting the valve body material lies in the fact that it is not possible to consider only the corrosion problem, but also the ability to withstand pressure and temperature, whether it is economically reasonable and whether the purchase is easy or not. So it must be hard-hearted.

Followed by lining measures, such as lining lead, lining aluminum, lining engineering plastics, lining natural rubber and various synthetic rubber. If media conditions permit, this is a saving method.

    Again, under conditions of low pressure and temperature, the use of non-metallic valve body materials can be very effective in preventing corrosion.

    In addition, the outer surface of the valve is also subject to atmospheric corrosion, and steel materials are generally protected by brush paint.
